The solo is a journey through different ‘states’: conditions and moods of a body and soul resisting the “necessity to advance”.

Alike Sisyphus in the myth, one is always pushing one’s way forward, away from the past and into a promising future – passing through the joy and despairs of the present moment: states.

In ‘States’ Arco Renz develops a movement language that goes “beyond pure, formal dance: a graceful expressionism that can be situated somewhere between the German expressionist films of the 1920s and traditional Eastern dance and theatre forms.”
